Erie isn't as Bad as You May Think
Too often I find natives of Erie taking their home for granted. I hear my friends dream of leaving Erie, PA for some bigger and greater place. Or I hear those who believe that there is not much happening in Erie; except attending drinking outings and bar locations. I find these beliefs to be untrue. Last night I enjoyed a 10 mile rollerblading adventure at the Peninsula. The Singing Bridge presented a beautiful view of the wetlands and aquatic life of Lake Erie. As well as a breath taking view of the dusk sky. Along the way a deer the color of soft red clay crossed my path and reminded me that nature can still be found in our fast paced city lives. Perry Monument enlightened me to the perils of war that Lake Erie encountered. The bridge located next to the lagoons showed me how to take in the beauty of the sun's fading daylight rays on the silky blue water as I raced down the hill; arms flung out wide. The trail along the beaches allowed me peeks at the Erie sunset. Sunsets that have been known to be some of the best in the world. The water appeared to be a blue fire washing up to the beach's sand. The sun a brilliant ball of heat losing way to night. I felt myself fill with freedom and beauty. Longing for my trail to never end, but night was coming on quickly. As I raced dusk's fading light to reach my car, a skunk waddled by without lifting his tail, which I am very thankful for. Once I reached my car, I thought I love living in Erie!
